Fresh Flower Motif

This card was inspired by my friend Kristie Goulet.  She is a master at taking stamps and using them in unique ways to create new designs.  Her classes over at StampNation have me looking at my stamps with fresh, new eyes.

My other inspiration for this card came from my new business.  I needed some tags to add to the mini facials I was giving away and that sparked the overall theme of this card.  I chose fresh colors from our logo and stamped them on a tag that I could include as part of their gift or on a card like you see here.

Stamps: Leaf Motif (SOA)
Ink: Bellini, Garden Party, It's A Boy, It's A Girl, Melon Ice, Midnight, Mint to Be, Sweet Sixteen, Tiara (CPD)
Paper: Bright White (CPD)
Accessories: Marching Leaves Stencil, Tags, Etc. Dies (SOA) White & Grey Twine

Today is the second day of blog hops.  Be sure to head on over to Catherine's blog to see who is participating today.  And, don't forget to get on the waitlist to find out the moment this collection goes on sale!

Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval Blog Hop Day 1

A new Stamp of Approval is being released this week.  The name of this limited edition collection is near and dear to my heart: Counting Blessings.  I'm so excited to share a couple of my projects with you today!  This first one is included in the project guide that will be emailed to you after you purchase the collection.

My first card uses one of the 2 stencils included in this collection to make a rainbow of leaves.  Isn't that a fun, yet simple idea?

Paper: Basic Black (SU) Bright White (CPD)
Accessories: Tags, Etc. Dies, Marching Leaves Stencil, Thankful Die (SOA) White Embossing Powder (SU)

My second card uses the unique Fallen Leaves Dies.  First I die cut a row of leaves out of my card panel.  The I die cut some leaves from paper that had been sponged with Bellini and Flirty Fuchsia inks.  I did a partial inlay die cut technique, using the white outline die and select sponged fillers from the dies.  Next I did my stamping. The final touch was to splatter with a little black ink using a spritzer tool and mount it on some light gray cardstock.

Accessories: Basic Black Marker, Spritzer Tool (SU) Fallen Leaves Die (SOA)

These collections sell out fast, so make sure you are on the waitlist to find out as soon as they go up for sale.  Our last release sold out before it could go live to the public.  Only those on StampNation and the waitlist had the opportunity to snatch one.

Now on to the fun stuff.  Let's see how some of the other designers on the team were inspired and give you a chance to win one of these new collections for yourself.  All you have to do is comment on each stop on the hop for your chance to win.  Come back tomorrow and Tuesday for days 2 & 3 of the hop.

One winner will be chosen at random from each day's comments and announced on AUGUST 17th on Catherine’s blog. The winners will win their box and if they already bought it, they will be issued a Gift Certificate worth $100 towards a future purchase.

Next up on the hop is the creative genius, Maureen, from Mama Mo Stamps!

Surround Yourself With...

Catherine Pooler has a new release, and you know what that means?  I get to play with new stamps and dies and ink and stencils!!!!  So much good stuff to enjoy!

One of the stamp sets comes with this saying "Surround yourself with those who bring out the best in you."  This quote has special meaning because Catherine gave her design team members a bracelet with this inscription on the inside at our first dream team retreat.  You may have seen this silver bracelet on my wrist, Catherine's or one of the other dream team members.  It holds a special place in my heart and I wear it almost daily.

The background was created by stamping the pear in Melon Ice in the center of the card, and then stamping pears all around it, changing the direction of the stamp each time I stamped it.

You Are Worth It

My sweet fellow blogger, Carole, From My Carolina Home is starting a card drive for battered women.  She reached out to me and asked if I would help spread the word.  Of course I said yes.   Here's what she has to say:

First, I'd like to invite my stamping and card making readers to make some cards of encouragement and support for these ladies.  Something that says "you are worth it".  Cards that are uplifting and supportive.  Make several in the same design, or use different designs, it is up to you.  The only request is to keep them uplifting in tone, and to not use a religious theme as there are many different religions represented in the residents and we won't know who is getting what.  Inside the card you can hand write, stamp, or use your computer to make an uplifting message.  You could say something like this on the inside -

"As you go through this time of change, know that you are important and valued. You deserve to be happy and safe.
Good luck with your future plans."

Sign the card as you like - either "A friend who cares", or something similar, or your first name.  Mail your completed cards to me with an envelope for each one addressed only as "For You".

Isn't this a wonderful thing Carole is putting together?  It goes right along with the Calling All Sistahs Encouragement Challenge I coordinate every month.  My Card of Encouragement for these ladies:

Congrats and Yay Stripes

Recently I started selling Rodan + Fields.  I wanted to make some cards to send to my new Preferred Customers and Future Consultants, along with a little notecard to send out with the Free Mini Facials.  So, I drew inspiration from the R+F logo and product colors.  Each of their regimens comes with a strip of color.  I took those colors and pulled out Yay Stripes.

At first I was going to use the bar stripe stamp, but I couldn't help myself and grabbed the dotted chevron.  It's one of my favorites, because it one I asked for based on a piece of fabric I love.

Isn't that fun?!  I chose the sentiment "Congrats" because I could congratulate new customers on getting started on healthier, younger looking skin and/or lashes.   The card needed something else, so I add a thin strip of black cardstock and matted the entire piece.  So easy to make, yet packs a punch.

Guess what?  Catherine has started an affiliate program for her design team.  By clicking on links below to her store and making a purchase, I get a small percentage back.  Pretty cool, eh?!  Thanks for your continued support of my business.  It means the world to me.

If you are new to the shop and haven't yet signed up for the rewards program, you can do so here.

StampNation Aurora Borealis Challenge

Have any of you seen the Aurora Borealis trend going on in the stamp world?  First you add color to your cardstock, then you blend over it in black.  Next you add water droplets and pull up some color, OR you can add white/black splatters OR spritz it with shimmer mist AND the result is a night sky with a touch of color. Pretty cool.  That's the challenge today over at StampNation.  Here's a sneak peek of my exclusive card for the challenge.

Check out the amazing sneak peek from the dream team.

StampNation members can find the challenge here.

I had some leftover pieces on my stamp table and came up with another card just for my blog followers.  This one doesn't have the technique piece.  Instead I added another "best" die cut in black.  I also tilted the sentiment strip on an angle to match the glitter tape.  Do any of you CASE yourself?

Lane Swerve

Last week I was going to film another video using Gesso with Gelatos, but I got a bit distracted by this box on my doorstep.

It's not craft related.  It is my new business kit for Rodan + Fields.  For those of you not familiar with R+F, it is an anti-aging skincare company from the same doctors that created ProActiv.  Back in March I started using one of their regimens and the changes I saw in my appearance made me want to share this incredible company with others.  It's embarrassing for me to show my before and after pictures, but it might help someone else who isn't happy with their skin, so here goes.

Picture on the left is 10 weeks on Redefine + Multi-function eye cream
Picture on the right is my before in March 2017
From the time I hit puberty I've had to deal with acne.  As I hit my 30's wrinkles were added.  Just like my mom I had pimples and wrinkles.  Life isn't fair!  Over the past few years I've noticed my pores enlarging, a dullness to my skin and acne scars from years of cystic acne.  You may have noticed I don't show my face very often on this blog or in my videos.  I wasn't happy with my skin, and wore make-up to cover up my skin whenever I left the house.

In March I started using one of the regimens from Rodan + Fields.  My friend led me through the solution tool to find out which one I needed and then signed me up for PC Perks.  Fast forward 3 months and I'm beginning to like what I see in the mirror.  My skin looks and feels so much healthier.  My pores don't appear as large as they were and my skin feels healthier.  My goal is to not "need" to wear makeup, and only wear it when I want to.  I would love for you to experience this feeling too.  If you would like to learn more, or just see my progress, join my Heather North Rodan and Fields Facebook group.   Last week I shared did a Facebook live of me unboxing that big business kit.  It was so much fun and a bit terrifying!

Today I am back to working on cards and editing videos, so I should have some new cards up soon.  Last weekend I did some quilting before it got too hot.  Did you catch a peek of that on my Instagram account?  We topped out at 102 degrees here in Rochester, WA.

CAS02 Encouragement Challenge

It's time for the second Calling All Sistahs Encouragement Challenge.  This month I was inspired by the paint brushes and wanted to make a paint swatch card.  I also used the colors in the inspiration picture.

Here is how I interpreted the photo/colors.

Direct link to youtube video in HD: https://youtu.be/sc3oa1JZZJU

It was easy and fast to create this colorful card that screams Summer Beach to me.  :)  If you would like to join our challenge, the rules are simple.  Make a card to encourage someone using the photo, colors or both and link up with our challenge by the 13th.  Now, head on over and see what the amazing Encouragement Squad created using this inspiration photo.
