Michele's 50th Birthday Blog Hop

Birthday's are always cause for celebration, but when you hit 50 it's time for a FABULOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION.  My friend and founder of CAS-ual Fridays Stamps, Michele Gross, is turning 50 in just a few days and a few of her crafty friends are joining in on the party with a fun blog hop!

Michele, I wish you the happiest of happy birthday's, my friend!  You are a bright light in this world and I am honored to be on your creative team.  May this year be your best year yet!!!

My card was created by scribbling Zig markers at the top of a piece of bristol, then spritzing it with water and letting the excess drip and splatter.  Once that was dry I splattered it with watered down black Nuvo drops.    Next I embossed the super fun sentiment and added a bit of sparkly bling, because I know Michele loves glittery touches.

While making this card I played around with a couple of other sentiments from CAS-ual Fridays.  There are so many to choose from.

Michele wants to celebrate by giving to YOU!
Simply leave comments on all of the blogs on this hop for your chance to win (1 of  5) $50 gift certificates from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps!!!!  You should have come from the creatively talented Kimberly Rendino's blog.  If you get lost along the way or just want to start at the top of the hop, you can head HERE to visit CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog.

Calling All Sistahs

It's the 17th of the month, have you checked yourself lately?  Is it time to get that mammogram scheduled?  The Encouragement Squad and I along with Michele Gross are all her to remind you.   The earlier cancer is found, the better the prognosis.   You matter!

My card today was brought to you by my paper stash.  :)   There is a treasure trove of pretty paper in my hobby room and I'm trying to use some of it up before I buy any more.  The little butterfly was plain so I added antennae and a dotted trail to make it look as though it was fluttering.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new encouragement challenge.  In the meantime, head on over to the Calling All Sistahs blog to read Michele's encouraging message and new outlook on aging.  You'll also get a chance to see the lovely reminder cards from the rest of the encouragement squad.

CAS11 Encouragement Card Challenge

Did you know I am a California girl?  Born & raised.  The CA state flower is a poppy, so everytime I see one I think of home.  This month's inspiration photo for the Calling All Sistahs encouragement challenge has me thinking of California in the summer.  Which is funny because we have snow in the forecast for SW Washington this week.

For this challenge you can use either the photo or the color chips (or both) to create a card that will encourage the recipient.  I used the colors and flowers, but I took some liberty with the style of flower.  It's not poppies, but it is bright and cheerful.  I made it for a friend that is battling cancer and is having a rough time.  I pray it brings her some comfort.

We would LOVE to have you join us for this challenge.  Head on over to the Calling All Sistahs blog and enter your card(s) for a chance to win!  Plus, you'll see the amazing creations by the encouragement squad!

Calling All Sistahs Reminder

It's the 17th of the February, have you checked yourself lately?  Here is your monthly reminder to do your breast exams and schedule your yearly mammograms.  A few short minutes could save your life or give you peace of mind.  Every month I join the Encouragement Squad and Michele from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps to give you this reminder.   Here's my card for February.

Stamps: Hope Ribbon (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps)
Ink: Versamark
Paper: Bristol Cardstock (Strathmore) Basic Black (SU)
Accessories: Bluish Gold No 91, Deep Pink No 37 paint (Gansai Tambi) Harleen Stencil (Winnie & Walter) Ruffled Ribbon Fri-Die (CAS-ual Fridays Stamps) Sistahood Sparkle Sequins (Pretty Pink Posh for CFS)  White Embossing Powder (WOW)

I was in a watercolor mood when I made this card.  This card was actually created at the same time I made my card for the December reminder.  (clicky if you want to see that card)  I painted a piece of cardstock with a light wash, dried it and stamped/embossed the hope ribbon.  Next I die cut my ribbon and painted in some of the hearts with a drier brush using the same deep pink paint.

I was left with a puddle of pink paint on my craft sheet, so I grabbed a stencil and another piece of cardstock.  I dropped the stencil into the paint and swirled around to pick up some of that paint.  I then laid it onto another piece of cardstock and spritzed it with water to get the paint off the stencil and onto the background. I removed the stencil and splattered with some gold paint, then finished the card off by adding my ribbon, some sistahood sequins and a black strip sentiment.  Such a fun use of my "leftovers".  :)

Be sure to head on over to the Calling All Sistahs blog to see what the rest of the team has created and come back tomorrow for a new encouragement challenge!

Calendar Girls 2018

Back in the fall of 2017 I met my dear online friend, Freda McCracken for the very first time in person!  We first met online through a scrapbooking chat forum WAY BACK in my Creative Memories days.  She came out to Seattle, WA for a wedding and made time to meet up with me.  I had to take her to Impress Rubber Stamps while she was here.  While we were there she spied these calendar pages and thought they would be a fun idea for our group.  As we were talking another customer came by and started sharing pictures on her phone of the pages she and her friends had made.  Freda started taking pictures of the pictures on this ladies phone and then went back home and started a virtual "Calendar Girls" group from among her friends that wanted to participate.

Of course I had to jump in on the fun.  I'll share mine when it is my month.  (Can you guess which month I chose?)  The first month,January, was created by none other than Freda McCracken.  Here is her lovely creation that has been sitting on my desk all month long.

If you have a group of creative friends, this is a really fun project to do together.  We each took our month, created 12 of them and sent them to Freda.  She sorted them and sent us each a full collection of 12 months.  So much fun to see what each person made and to have a piece of them in my office all year long.

Encouragement Challenge ~ CAS09

It's a new year and we have a fresh new line up of encouragement challenges over on the Calling All Sistahs blog.  We even have a new member for you to check out!

I had fun with this card using the new Peace & Comfort set from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.  First I did a wash of color using Zigs on watercolor paper.  Then I stamped the sentiment, using my MISTI to stamp several times.  Watercolor paper is hard to get a good impression on, so the MISTI is a must!  Next I used one of the Zig markers to color in the letters.

The flower is also from that stamp set.  To finish off my card I die cut and layered it on grey cardstock.  Now let's head on over to the Calling All Sistahs blog to see all the incredible creations the Encouragement Squad has come up with.  Then, be sure to add your Encouragement card to the link up for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to the CAS-ual Fridays store!

Don't forget to use the new coupon code cas-comfort to save 15% at the CAS-ual Fridays Store!
